The 2" x 2" octagonal base allows for 3.13 square inches of surface area for tripod contact and mounting. The epoxy installed Tee Nut provides steel threads for tripod screws and mounts. And its light weight! I made it using my table saw, drill with a countersink bit, and my Dremel Tool. The Tee Nut was installed using epoxy. I purchased the stick-back hobby foam from WalMart.
